Question:

I am a new immigrant here..It will take 3 weeks to get a social security card..how can i apply and get a job before that?

I need a job urgently..please let me know where can i get without social security card.I wont be taking money before that..

I will work for 3 weeks...and after getting the social security card..i will ask for the money..

i am an indian..
I will be getting my green card maybe after 4 months or so.

Answer:

If you have been approved for the "green card", you may set an InfoPass appointment online at uscis.gov and request the USCIS officer to put a temporary I-551 stamp in your passport. You may then use the passport and temporary I-551 stamp to show your prospective employer that you are authorized to work. Whether to hire you or not is still up to the employer, and some employers may not want to hire you until you have the Social Security Number. Some employers, however, may be willing to hire you and use a "place holder" SSN for accounting purposes until you receive your SSN.

B-1/B-2 Visitors: Visitors to the U. S. for business purposes are admitted in B-1 status for the length of time necessary to accomplish their business purpose, but the initial admission will be limited to six months with extension possible. Other visitors will be admitted in B-2 status and are almost always granted a six month stay which can be extended. Neither B-1 nor B-2 visitors can work for a U. S. employer.
